If you came down to our #BeAGameChanger event in May you will have seen England Women’s inspiring rugby captain, Katy Mclean, being interviewed alongside our other brilliant England captains. This August, Katy will be part of the England Women’s squad who are contesting the Women’s Rugby World Cup in Paris and England Rugby is urging the nation to show their encouragement for the team and women’s sport in general.
England Rugby’s nationwide campaign kicks starts today with England Men’s Captain Chris Robshaw calling on the country to show their support by tweeting inspirational messages to @EnglandRugby using the hashtag #CarryThemHome in the lead up to the tournament, which takes place from August 1-17.
Fans from across the worlds of politics, celebrity, sport and even the British Monarchy have all pledged their support. And we at Women’s Sport Trust are adding our names to the list and encouraging all of our supporters to do the same – let’s come together to create a wave of patriotism that will carry England to success in Paris.
This promises to be a true game changing campaign that will call on people to come together to raise the profile of women’s rugby and women’s sport – hopefully inspiring a new generation of women’s rugby stars in the process.
All England Women’s matches will be live on Sky Sports including their opening game against Samoa on August 1st. For more information on everything that England Women are doing visit – www.rfu.com/england-rugby
