Onside is our 2017 campaign aimed at engaging men and boys as role models to speak up and take action to support women and girls in sport.
Engaging men and boys as role models, actively and visibly supporting women’s sport is essential to increasing the impact of women’s sport. The business world has started to make progress on gender equality by acknowledging that gender equality isn’t a “women’s issue”; it’s a talent, fairness and performance issue and relevant to men and women alike.
It has been a bit of a shock to start to realise how uneven the playing field is in many areas and I am keen to play my part in changing this. As a broadcaster I want to see and be part of great stories which feature strong sportswomen as well as men. These are the stories that inspire not just the next generation but all of us.
