On May 28th, Women’s Sport Trust and Microsoft will be hosting an evening event dedicated to raising the profile and increasing the impact of women’s sport.
The centrepiece of the event is a panel featuring England team captains, Steph Houghton (Football), Katy McLean MBE (Rugby), Pamela Cookey (Netball) and Charlotte Edwards MBE (Cricket). These four sporting role models will be interviewed by broadcaster Alice Arnold about their experience of leadership, the highs and lows of their careers, the importance of teamwork and the qualities required to achieve success.
Our audience will bring together leading figures from sport, media, politics and business including Clare Balding OBE, Olympic gold medallist, Anna Watkins MBE and top goal scorer, Kelly Smith MBE to take part in an active discussion about what it takes to #BeAGameChanger for women in sport, business and wider society.
The panel event will showcase these talented leaders and role models, whilst also exploring the relevance of women’s sport to business. The event is already generating the kind of extensive media interest that will continue to highlight the importance of creating a level playing field for women’s sport.
Aim of the event
We have a strong belief that gender equity is only possible by connecting sports bodies, the media, athletes, politicians and corporate organisations together to help create environments where women can achieve their potential. We don’t just want to talk – we want to make change happen on the night, and will end the evening with a call to action for everyone in the room to use the influence they have to #beagamechanger themselves.
